Information Release

Due to the increasingly deficient quality of driving in England nowadays the Department of

Transport has recently devised a new scheme in order to identify poor drivers and give good drivers and pedestrians the opportunity to recognise them whilst going about their daily business.

Examples of bad driving include:

· overtaking in dangerous places

· hovering within one inch of the car in front

· stopping sharply without prior notification of intent

· speeding in residential areas

· pulling out without indication

· performing U turns inappropriately in busy high streets

· under-taking on motorways (or weaving in and out of traffic)

· taking up more than one lane in multi lane roads

This list is not exhaustive.

For this reason as from the middle of May 2006 those drivers who are found to be performing such manoeuvres will be issued with flags to signify their complete inability to drive properly.

These flags will be white in colour with a red cross. The regulations state that these must be clipped to a door of the car and be visible to all other drivers and pedestrians.

Those drivers who have shown particularly poor driving skills will be required to display a flag on each side of the car to indicate their greater lack of skill and general lower intelligence to the general public. There will be some drivers who show such low regard for fellow road users that they will be required to display four flags – one on each corner of their vehicle

In effect the more flags seen displayed on a vehicle, the lower that driver’s IQ and driving ability.

Please circulate this to as many other motorists as you can so that drivers and pedestrians will be aware of the meaning of these flags.

Thank you

The Department of Transport.
