A Rootin Tootin weekend

Well I have the pleasure of spending bank holiday weekend in sunny Southport - am off work tomorrow :) to help the guys from ICC set up at Roots then am there for the rest of the weekend recording (I think) - will find out more when I get there. From what I can gather it's a pretty big event, The Salvation Army basically seem to take over Southport - good on yer! As it's not far from Manchester I'm going to drive in and out every day. So that means an early start to morrow to get there for 9am so I'd better hit the sack. Will fill you in on the fun and games when I return ...

Manchester Passion

Well ... on Friday night I went with a bunch of mates into Manchester to witness the spectacle that was the 'Manchester Passion'. The event was screened on BBC2 and BBC3 - it was so exciting to find out that the - often criticised - BBC were staging the Passion play, set to the music of Manchester.

I've not managed to watch the recording of it yet - it'll give a different persepctive on things as we saw a lot of the stuff that was going on around the city on video screens.

Had a bit of a strange moment though ... as we were part of the crowd, we were called to 'free Barabbas' and 'crucify Jesus' - some of the guys we were with had a problem with this and wouldn't do it - and to be honest it got me thinking. I know in once sense Jesus chose to be crucified, but He did it becuase I sin.

I thought the ending was fantastic, with Keith Allen - who I thought played his role perfectly - giving the 'dummy ending' mocking the fact that the disciples had said that Jesus would come back to life. Then switching to the top of the town hall where Jesus proclaimed 'I am the resurection and the life' ... the perfect ending
